What is Location Finland?

The Location Finland data platform brings together novel national data sources to support the creation of location-based services in Finland. Data sources are divided into several themes and test areas, each with its own free-to-use API. In order to use any of these APIs, you can get an API key for free.

The Location Finland shares similarities with Location Europe as both offer free-to-use APIs for location-based data. Location Europe provides harmonised data across the entire continent, whereas Location Finland focuses exclusively on data within Finland.

Who are we?

The Location Finland is one of the services provided by Location Innovation Hub (LIH) . LIH is a centre of expertise for location information and technology, offering free coaching for small and medium-sized enterprises and public administrations. We provide support in areas like business development, adopting new technologies, and finding funding opportunities. Our work is coordinated by The Finnish Geospatial Research Institute (FGI).

Our vision is to enable and develop reference data spaces in our key target sectors: the built environment, bioeconomy, and health and well-being. Read more about our data spaces .
